We presently use the ".txt" extension for our AsciiDoc files. While not wrong, most editors do not associate this extension with AsciiDoc, meaning that contributors don't get automatic editor functionality that could be useful, such as syntax highlighting and prose linting. It is much more common to use the ".adoc" extension for AsciiDoc files, since this helps editors automatically detect files and also allows various forges to provide rich (HTML-like) rendering. Let's do that here, renaming all of the files and updating the includes where relevant. Adjust the various build scripts and makefiles to use the new extension as well. - "git clone" over http from a repository that has lost the
|
|
loose refs by running "git pack-refs" were broken (a code to
|
|
deal with this was added to "git fetch" in v1.5.0, but it
|
|
was missing from "git clone").

- "git diff a/ b/" incorrectly fell in "diff between two
|
|
filesystem objects" codepath, when the user most likely
|
|
wanted to limit the extent of output to two tracked
|
|
directories.
|

|
|
- git-quiltimport had the same bug as we fixed for
|
|
git-applymbox in v1.5.1.1 -- it gave an alarming "did not
|
|
have any patch" message (but did not actually fail and was
|
|
harmless).

- Sample update hook incorrectly always refused requests to
|

delete branches through push.

- git-blame on a very long working tree path had buffer
